SHOWAX
Oxidized Wax
SHOWAX is a an Oxygenated Hydrocarbon used in various industries, primarily for rust prevention and anti-corrosion.
The characteristic of SHOWAX is it’s non-staining nature, this product is ideally suited for formulations that call for a high level of rust protection. It is designed to provide excellent rust protection in formulating industrial lubricating oils, greases, hydraulic fluids, slushing oils and various other protective compounds.
SHOWAX is compatible with most mineral base oils, white oils and synthetic base stocks. The acids present in the oxidate can be neutralized with bivalent metaloxides, e.g. calciumhydroxide, giving end-products of a high molecular weight and wax-like nature with excellent water resistance and anti-corrosion.
Recommended Formulation & Usage:
Oil soluble derivatives can be produced by reaction with metal oxides, hydroxides or overbased petroleum sulphonates of calcium or barium. They are ideal for use as:
- Rust preventives (temporary-solvent or oil deposited or long term protective products, dewatering products and hot melt products)
- Wire rope dressings
- Grease formulations
- Oil based concrete mould release agents (also prevent corrosion of metal formers)
- Plasticisers in putties and mastics
Reaction with lithium or aluminium salts also produces oil soluble derivatives.
Rust Preventive Additives

These products of Oxidized wax derivatives are soft waxy material made by blending various inhibitors and basically consists of various soaps of Oxygenated Hydrocarbon.
The characteristic of these range is its non-emulsifiability and non-staining nature further it does not emulsify even in the presence of an alkali.
The protective film of this range of products left on the metal after evaporation of the solvent is ultra thin, non-staining and highly protective. SHOALO-45 can also be used in mineral oil solutions to provide water displacement.
